You know…the days that you wear unflattering clothes because they were “easy” compared to the days that you wear a dress that looks like it was made just for you. Those days will come to a screeching halt if you follow these simple steps.</p> <p><strong>Step 1: Determine YOUR OWN PERSONAL STYLE and pay no attention to the current “trend”</strong> - It’s likely that you have too many “styles” within your wardrobe simply because you don’t know your “own style”. This leads to over-spending and clothes hanging in your closet that have never been worn and items with the tags still on. Are you classic, preppy, bohemian, soccer mom or fashionista? Maybe you are a fashionista-soccer mom…whatever the answer, know your style. And while you are doing that, determine the styles that fit and flatter YOUR body shape and skin color.</p> <p><strong>Step 2: Conduct a Closet Purge</strong> - There is nothing fun about stepping into an over-stuffed closet. Not only does it alter your mood immediately, but it increases the amount of time that it takes to get ready. Start from the very beginning of your closet and purge what hasn’t been worn in the past 1-2 years (with no exceptions) and work your way to the very end. Place two (2) different boxes outside of your closet during this process: one for Goodwill/Dress for Success and the other for consignment. Once completed, make a shopping list of “staple wardrobe items” that you do not have yet need.</p> <p><strong>Step 3: Organize your closet</strong> - Find a proper place for each set of items within your closet. This makes getting dressed in the morning a snap because you know exactly where to go to find what you need! T-shirts with the t-shirts. Sweaters with the sweaters. Blouses with the blouses…blues with the blues. You get the idea!</p> <p><strong>Step 4: Pull items to create multiple outfits and take pictures</strong> - For example: Pull out your best pair of black pants and go through your entire wardrobe pairing every-single possibility with them…cardigans, blouses, sweaters, blouses <em>under</em> sweaters, blouses <em>under</em> cardigans, t-shirts, etc. Take a picture of each outfit and place them in a binder that you will keep in your closet for easy access reference material.</p> <p><strong>Step 5: Have a 3-5 minute make-up regimen for the days that you are running late</strong> - I like <a href="http://youtu.be/rPCotVCs2jc" title="3 minute makeup regimen by Kandee Johnson" target="_blank">this one</a> by Kandee Johnson! </p> <p>Confused? Above are three different options for the same beautiful sweater (which has a price point of $25 btw…YES PLEASE!).</div> <div></div> <div>The cropped pants have a unique “half elastic” detail at the hem allowing them to fall perfectly on the leg…not too tight…not too loose. Personally, I would also do a half-tuck on the sweater and a slim belt paired with the cropped pants. </div> <div></div> <div>The polka dot pants bring an extra pop of “girly” to this outfit. Don’t you just love?! I paired the polka dots with turquoise pumps and I think it looks amazing! You can see that I tied in the turquoise pumps with turquoise bangles. But if the turquoise pumps are too much for your personality, a nude pump/wedge will work beautifully too!</div> <div></div> <div>Finally, one of my most favorite things to do…pair the unexpected! Taking a faux-leather skater skirt with our pretty ruffle sweater makes for a fun date night!
